Uganda Premier League top scorers 2025/26: goals and assist evidence

Ivan Ahimbisibwe led the final published scoring table with 14 goals. Watambala and Kigozi followed on 12; no assist leader is invented where the captured data are empty.

Uganda Premier League top scorers 2025/26: final leaderboard

Ivan Ahimbisibwe led the published 2025/26 Uganda Premier League scoring table with 14 goals for KCCA. Abdul Karim Watambala of Vipers and Ambrose Kigozi of Entebbe UPPC followed on 12. This is the completed 2025/26 record, not a live 2026/27 Golden Boot race.

UgandaFootball's matchday-30 table supplies the ranking below. KCCA's 14 August 2026 transfer announcement independently confirms that Ahimbisibwe won the season's Golden Boot. The captured assists page contained no leaderboard, so no assist king, penalty breakdown or minutes-per-goal ranking is invented here.

For team context, see the final 2025/26 UPL table. Goalkeeping awards are covered separately in our UPL clean-sheet analysis.

The verified leading scorers

The club column refers to the club associated with the player's 2025/26 goals, not necessarily his employer in November 2026. Tied goal totals are grouped without suggesting an unverified tiebreaker.

The source prints “Kigozi Ambrose”; this article uses Ambrose Kigozi in ordinary prose. Name order should be normalized cautiously when combining datasets so one player does not become two rows.

Likewise, an empty penalty column means “not verified,” not zero. Subtracting zero penalties from every scorer would create a falsely precise non-penalty ranking. Missing minutes should not be replaced by 30 full matches just because the team completed that schedule.

Ahimbisibwe's Golden Boot and subsequent transfer

KCCA's official statement says Ahimbisibwe joined ahead of 2025/26, won the league scoring award and subsequently completed a permanent move to Iraq's Zakho Sports Club. The move was announced on 14 August 2026.

This supplies an important editorial safeguard: “KCCA's 2025/26 top scorer” is a historical description, while “KCCA's current striker” would require a different check. An article that republishes last season's goals without checking a transfer can mislead readers looking for today's team selection.

His 14 goals represented approximately 30.4% of KCCA's 46 goals in the final table. That is a descriptive share, not proof that the team would lose 30.4% of its attack after his departure. Other forwards can gain minutes, tactics can change and replacement players can contribute.

The club's transfer announcement is not evidence of a disclosed fee or salary. Those financial questions are treated separately in Ugandan footballers abroad: EPL appearances and salary evidence.

Scoring concentration across leading clubs

A scorer table becomes more informative when read beside team totals. Watambala and Usama together contributed 22 of Vipers' 55 league goals, or 40.0%. Kigozi's 12 represented 40.0% of Entebbe UPPC's 30.

Player or combinationPublished goalsTeam goalsShare of team goals
Ahimbisibwe, KCCA144630.4%
Watambala, Vipers125521.8%
Watambala plus Usama, Vipers225540.0%
Kigozi, Entebbe UPPC123040.0%
Kaddu, Kitara104323.3%
Ssebuufu, SC Villa94719.1%

These shares use published season totals and are rounded to one decimal place. They do not measure expected goals, shot quality or the number of scoring opportunities a player received.

A high share can reflect an exceptional finisher, a tactical focal point or limited contributions elsewhere. A lower share can accompany a more distributed attack. Neither automatically identifies a better player without role, minutes and chance-quality information.

Mbarara City's Kamugisha scored nine against a team total of 26, approximately 34.6%. That is relevant to understanding attacking concentration in a lower-table side, but it is not an objective transfer valuation.

Minutes per goal and non-penalty goals: calculate only with inputs

Two common calculations are:

Goals per 90 = goals × 90 ÷ minutes played
Minutes per goal = minutes played ÷ goals
Non-penalty goals = total goals − verified penalty goals

The same ten goals can represent very different scoring rates across 900 and 2,700 minutes. Those minute totals are illustrative examples, not the playing time of a named UPL footballer.

A responsible comparison also specifies whether extra time, stoppage time, substitute appearances and own goals are included. Domestic league minutes should not be mixed with cup minutes while keeping league goals as the numerator.

When a source has incomplete appearance records, report the limitation instead of presenting a polished rate to two decimal places. Apparent precision does not repair missing observations.

For a recruitment study, add shot locations, penalty status, role and opposition strength if those data are legitimately available. A Golden Boot list alone cannot establish pressing quality, link play or suitability for a particular coach.

Uganda Premier League top assists: what is missing?

The 2025/26 assists page captured during this research did not provide player rows. This is a coverage limitation, not proof that no assists occurred.

An assist can be defined differently across providers. Rebounds, deflections, penalties won and own-goal situations may be counted, excluded or categorized separately. A merged ranking is unreliable unless those rules are compatible.

MetricRequired observationWhy goals cannot substitute
AssistsProvider-defined final contribution before a goalA scorer need not be the creator
Key passesPasses leading directly to shotsMost shots are not goals
Expected assists, xADefined model applied to chance creationRequires a model and event data
Chances created per 90Complete chances and playing timeAppearance counts alone are insufficient
Set-piece contributionEvent type and player roleTeam corners do not identify the taker

Queries such as “top 10 assists in the Premier League” may refer to England rather than Uganda. UEFA Champions League assist records are another competition again. No global leaderboard should be relabelled as a domestic UPL table.

If reliable assist data later become available, a revision should state the provider, season, definition and update date. Until then, “not verified” is more useful than a fictional top ten.

Historical domestic records: Mukasa and the single-season benchmark

Andrew “Fimbo” Mukasa's 45 goals in 1999 are a documented single-season Ugandan league benchmark. Kawowo's historical scorer list and RSSSF's Uganda top-scorers archive both provide context for that record.

The comparison with a 14-goal modern Golden Boot requires care. Different seasons can have different schedules, competition conditions, record completeness and scoring environments. Raw totals alone do not establish which striker was more efficient.

RSSSF's archive also records repeated leading seasons for Majid Musisi, including 28 goals in 1987, 15 in 1989, 27 in 1990 and 29 in 1992. That supports discussing his scoring legacy without inventing a fully reconciled career total from a handful of annual winner rows.

A season's top-scorer list is not a list of every goal scored by every player. Adding only the seasons in which Musisi won the award would undercount his career. Hassan Mubiru and other historical scorers similarly require a complete match or season record before an all-time ranking can be claimed.

Searches for “UPL top scorers 2022/23,” “2024/25” and “2025 table” must retain their season labels. Do not replace an old table with the current leader while leaving the historical title unchanged.

Who is the all-time goal scorer of Uganda Cranes?

Emmanuel Okwi is widely identified as Uganda Cranes' record scorer with 28 international goals. RSSSF's individual record lists 28 goals in 95 appearances through his last recorded match in June 2023. Xinhua's March 2025 retirement report identifies him as the national team's leading scorer.

Those national-team goals are not Uganda Premier League goals. Geoffrey Massa, David Obua, Patrick Kaddu and Okwi can appear in international records while their club goals belong to separate competitions.

Different archives may vary in their treatment of unofficial matches and regional tournaments. A source with incomplete historic coverage should not overturn a documented all-time record simply because its visible player list is shorter.

When citing a Cranes total, include the record date and match-status convention. A current national-team selection, career club total and recognized international total answer three different questions.

Comparing Uganda with EPL and Champions League scoring

The English Premier League's schedule and UEFA's competition structure differ from Uganda's domestic league. A comparison should first normalize playing time and identify whether qualifying rounds, league phases and knockout matches are included.

A hypothetical striker with ten non-penalty goals in 1,500 minutes has a rate of 0.60 per 90. That arithmetic is comparable across datasets only if the underlying definitions and minutes are sound; it is not proof that the leagues have equal defensive strength.

Expected goals can help describe chance quality when a transparent model exists. It cannot be reverse-engineered accurately from the final score or assigned by reputation to UPL matches for which shot data are absent.

For supporters seeking today's fixtures rather than historic scoring, use the current UPL standings guide. For another Ugandan talent-development competition, see the Masaza Cup 2026 season review; county-tournament goals must remain separate from UPL totals.
