Uganda Marathon 2026 registration: archive and 2027 Masaka entry

The 2026 race-day form is historical. The Masaka organizer now advertises 30 May–6 June 2027, with race day on 5 June; confirm the current-year form before paying.

Uganda Marathon 2026 registration: the current position

The Uganda Marathon 2026 registration form remains accessible, but it is an archive-era page, not proof that a 2026 entry can still be purchased. As checked on 5 November 2026, the organizer's homepage promotes 30 May–6 June 2027, with race day on Saturday 5 June 2027 in Masaka. Use the organizer's current-year registration link rather than submitting an old form.

This guide concerns the Masaka event branded The Uganda Marathon—An Adventure Like No Other. It is not the MTN Kampala Marathon or the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon. The distinction is important because the Masaka offering combines running with accommodation, transfers and community activities, while a race-day-only entry is a different purchase.

Before paying: Verify the year, package, distance and inclusions on the confirmation screen. A website can retain a functioning historical form after moving its active sales to the following edition.

What the archived 2026 registration page actually shows

The captured 2026 race-day-only form offered 5km, 10km, half-marathon and full-marathon participation, plus a spectator option. It displayed USD 50 per runner regardless of the selected distance and USD 40 for the spectator option. These are archived 2026 form prices, not confirmed 2027 race-only prices.

The form also requested personal and travel details, T-shirt size and nationality, and described T-shirt and race-number collection on arrival in Masaka. Its travel-extension section referred to 31 May–7 June 2026. That historical text should not be mistaken for a new registration deadline.

A form's availability does not confirm payment acceptance, remaining places, event completion or a refund entitlement. If you previously paid for the 2026 edition and need a receipt or participation record, contact the organizer through its official site using your transaction reference. Do not submit a second payment just to recover an old confirmation.

For other Ugandan events, the Uganda running calendar overview provides context. Each organizer's latest dated information still takes precedence over a third-party calendar.

Confirmed advertised 2027 dates and packages

The current homepage advertises a week beginning Sunday 30 May and ending Sunday 6 June 2027. It separately identifies Saturday 5 June as race day. A seven-night package is therefore not a seven-day running competition or a claim that participants race a marathon every day.

Advertised 2027 optionPrice shown per personAccommodation descriptionWhat to check before booking
GoldUSD 1,799Deluxe room packageOccupancy, availability and final terms
SilverUSD 1,499Private en-suite roomWhether the quoted occupancy suits your party
BronzeUSD 1,399Shared roomRoom-sharing arrangements and availability
Family adultsUSD 1,699Family packageChild eligibility and total family cost
Family childrenUSD 1,399Family packageAges, room allocation and supervision

These are public advertised prices captured on 5 November, not a binding quotation from SmartMatchPick. The organizer also advertised a USD 99 deposit and a balance date of 31 January 2027. Confirm that the deposit offer still applies and read its cancellation terms before relying on it.

The homepage described airport transfers, seven nights' accommodation, three meals daily, race entry, T-shirt, number, medal, feed/water stations and medical support as package inclusions. Flights, incidentals and visa costs were listed separately. Optional safari and gorilla-trekking activities should not be assumed to be included simply because they appear beside the running package.

How to register for the correct edition

  1. Open the organizer's homepage. Follow the current registration link labelled for 2027, not an old search-engine result for the 2026 form.
  2. Choose the purchase type. Establish whether you need an international week-long package, race-day participation or spectator access.
  3. Select the distance deliberately. A full-marathon entry and a 10km entry have different preparation demands even if an archived form charged the same entry fee.
  4. Read accommodation and transfer conditions. Confirm arrival date, departure date, room occupancy and who is included in your booking.
  5. Check the final payment summary. Record currency, deposit, balance, transaction charges and any extras.
  6. Keep your confirmation. Save the organizer's receipt, reference number, chosen category and terms.
  7. Resolve travel details directly. Supply sensitive passport or medical information only through the organizer's verified process when it is genuinely needed.

Avoid giving travel-document details to a social-media account simply because it uses race photographs. Begin from the official domain and check where its links lead. SmartMatchPick does not process entries, hold places or collect runner payments.

Masaka routes: trail preparation rather than a city-road assumption

The organizer describes a hilly trail event through villages and community areas. Its current homepage says the full marathon uses two laps; the half marathon covers half that route. It also offers shorter 10km and 5km options.

That description supports preparing for uneven terrain and repeated hills. It does not provide enough detail to publish a certified elevation total, exact aid-station spacing or a turn-by-turn 2027 route map. Do not substitute a Rwenzori road course or a Kampala city route for the Masaka course.

For footwear, train on surfaces reasonably similar to those you expect to encounter, while following the organizer's final guidance. Test socks, lacing and any carrying system on longer outings. Avoid making race day the first time you use equipment that can produce blisters or restrict movement.

A lap-based marathon also requires mental and logistical planning. Decide how you will judge effort on the first lap rather than chasing a road-race pace. Understand where supporters may stand and whether any personal supplies are allowed. Those questions belong in the final participant briefing.

Distance choice, finishing times and cutoff questions

A two-hour half marathon corresponds to approximately 5:41 per kilometre over 21.0975km. That is a useful arithmetic reference, not a universal definition of a good performance. Terrain, weather, experience and whether someone runs or walks materially change the challenge.

Standard-distance exampleAverage paceWhat the calculation does not establish
10km in 75 minutes7:30/kmEligibility for a particular race
Half marathon in 2 hoursAbout 5:41/kmA suitable trail target for every runner
Half marathon in 3 hoursAbout 8:32/kmThe organizer's maximum permitted time
Marathon in 5 hoursAbout 7:07/kmHow hills and aid stops will affect you
Marathon in 6 hoursAbout 8:32/kmA confirmed six-hour event cutoff

“Marathon maximum time” is an event-rules question. Ask whether the cutoff is measured from gun time or your start, whether intermediate checkpoints apply and how withdrawal transport works. This research did not verify a binding Masaka cutoff for the next edition, so it does not invent one.

An honest distance choice should account for your recent consistent training rather than your most ambitious isolated workout. If the full marathon is inappropriate, a shorter category, walking where permitted, volunteering or spectating can still fit the event's participation model.

What to eat before a marathon in this setting

The practical priority is a food routine you have already tested. Before a longer race, familiar carbohydrate-containing meals can support energy availability, but abrupt changes in food volume, fibre or unfamiliar products can cause avoidable problems.

Use training sessions to learn what you tolerate before and during sustained exercise. Consider breakfast timing, access to safe drinking water and the foods actually available at your accommodation. Do not assume that every feed station serves the product you have used at home.

Drink according to conditions and your needs rather than forcing a fixed large volume because another runner recommends it. Heat, pace and individual sweating vary. Persistent dizziness, confusion, chest pain or other concerning symptoms require medical attention rather than a motivational push to continue.

This is general participation guidance, not a personalized nutrition or medical prescription. A runner managing a medical condition, pregnancy, medication or a history of heat illness should obtain advice appropriate to their circumstances before committing to strenuous travel and racing.

Community participation and responsible travel

The organizer presents community projects and volunteering as part of the week. Ask what each activity involves, who supervises it and whether children or vulnerable adults are involved. Respect safeguarding rules and ask permission before photographing participants.

Pay attention to what the package price funds rather than assuming every dollar is donated. Accommodation, transport and event delivery have costs. The homepage's claim that an entry subsidizes junior participation is an organizer statement, not an independently audited calculation in this guide.

Travel planning should also distinguish organizer arrangements from government requirements. Confirm current entry, health and documentation requirements with official authorities and your qualified travel-health provider. Do not rely on an event page's old visa wording as immigration advice.

Build flexibility into flights and connections. The advertised transfer date is not a guarantee that a particular incoming flight will be accommodated. Ask about missed connections, late arrivals and exclusions before making non-refundable travel purchases.

Ugandan runners and international comparisons

Uganda's elite distance-running success helps explain interest in running holidays, but a community marathon is not an elite national-team selection trial. Joshua Cheptegei's or Jacob Kiplimo's achievements do not establish the Masaka course record, entry standard or event prize purse.

For athlete-specific background, see our Ugandan champions and records guide. For the distinction between clubs, coaching and event entry, use the Uganda athletics clubs guide.

Queries about Manchester Marathon or Milo Marathon refer to different organizers and should not be answered with Masaka dates. Similarly, the phrase “big seven marathons” is not a promise that every event in Uganda belongs to an international majors series.

Compare events on the dimensions that matter to your decision: terrain, distance, access, cutoff rules, support and total cost. Our Rwenzori registration article and MTN Kampala status guide make those organizer distinctions explicit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still register for the Uganda Marathon 2026?

The 2026 race-day form remains accessible, but that is not proof of current entry availability. As checked on 5 November 2026, the organizer promotes its 2027 edition instead.

When is the next Uganda Marathon in Masaka?

The organizer advertises 30 May–6 June 2027 for the event week and Saturday 5 June 2027 for race day. Recheck the official site before booking travel.

How much does Uganda Marathon registration cost?

The archived 2026 race-day form listed USD 50 for running and USD 40 for spectating. Current advertised 2027 week-long packages range from USD 1,399 to USD 1,799 per person for the Bronze, Silver and Gold options; these are different products.

Is a two-hour half marathon good?

A two-hour standard half marathon averages approximately 5:41/km. Whether that is a suitable goal depends on the runner and conditions; a hilly trail event should not automatically be judged against a flat road time.

Is prize money guaranteed?

No verified prize schedule was found in the Masaka pages captured for this guide. Do not treat a participation package or medal as evidence of a cash award.
